GO! GO! GO!

Today I decided to start my CCIE R&S journey. I already purchased the CCIE Routing and Switching Certification Guide one month ago and my Routing TCP/IP Volume 1 arrived five days ago but I was not personally prepared to start. But today I am feeling that I am ready to start the hard work! First I need to make a detailed study plan and be prepared to dedicate a lot of time for my studies. Second I need to collect some tools that can help me in my studies (software for notes, time management software – please leave a comment if you know about some software that could be helpful for me).

And last but definitely not least –  I think that this would be a lot of fun  Wink

If you have any helpful tips for the written studies please leave a comment.

Wish me luck!

Wireless AP configuration – the beginning…

For some time I have a Cisco 1250 wireless access point in my work lab. I have no big experience with the wireless access point configuration and  there were no time to play with it till today.

The Cisco 1250 is a 802.11n dual-band rugged indoor access point. When you decide to buy this type of access point then you need to be aware that it requires a power injector to deliver power using the PoE from the switch or when you dont want to use a power injector then you can use a power supply.

[old] Cisco documentation in EPUB format

This is a blog post migrated from my testing blog

Yesterday I found out from the Etherealmind blog that some documentation on the Cisco site is now available also in *epub format. For example check the “Cisco Nexus 7000 Series NX-OS Layer 2 Switching Configuration Guide”. Below is a screenshot how it is looking…

If you also want to take a look only search on the Cisco website for EPUB. For me it is awesome. Now I can read some documentation also in bus on my Amazon Kindle Cool

[old] ASA QoS explanation and configuration

This is a blog post migrated from my testing blog

ASA supported QoS features:

Theese are my notes from this document: http://tinyurl.com/3dmo5ao

  • Policing – Policing is a way of ensuring that no traffic exceeds the maximum rate (in bits/second) that you configure, thus ensuring that no one traffic flow or class can take over the entire resource. The excess traffic is dropped.
  • Priority queuing – LLQ priority queuing lets you prioritize certain traffic flows (such as latency-sensitive traffic like voice and video) ahead of other traffic.
  • Traffic shaping – is used to match device and link speeds, thereby controlling packet loss, variable delay, and link saturation, which can cause jitter and delay. (not supported on ASA 5580)
